Scrum Master

Wellington 5012, New Zealand • Full-time

Description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Scrum Master to join our fast-paced, innovative global technology team. This role is based in Petone, Wellington.

This is a chance to bring meaningful change into an established software development group and help us continuously improve how we deliver our high-quality trading software solutions to large organisations.

We are an agile-minded company that values collaboration, adaptability, and continuous improvement, but we don’t rigidly follow formal processes or frameworks. Instead, we focus on creating an environment where teams can self-organise, communicate effectively, and deliver value iteratively. The successful candidate will play a key role in embedding agile values and making process improvements that support our growth, without introducing unnecessary complexity.

What you’ll do:

  • Observe and understand our existing Kanban-based processes, then suggest ways to evolve and improve them through practical Agile practices.

  • Facilitate and adapt agile processes that fit the team’s needs, rather than applying a one-size-fits-all framework.

  • Coach and mentor cross-functional teams, encouraging greater self-organisation, maturity, and accountability.

  • Remove blockers and smooth delivery workflows, driving continuous improvement across the team.

  • Run retrospectives and other feedback loops to help the team experiment and grow.

  • Collaborate with Product Owners and Project Managers to refine the backlog, prioritise work, and ensure transparency with stakeholders.

  • Build strong relationships across teams and foster a culture of trust, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.

  • Track key performance metrics, providing actionable insights to help improve delivery outcomes.

What you’ll bring:

  • 5+ years’ experience as a Scrum Master or Agile Coach in a software development environment.

  • Experience working with multiple cross-functional teams, ideally in complex environments.

  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or equivalent certification.

  • Strong facilitation, coaching, and conflict-resolution skills.

  • Comfortable operating in environments with ambiguity and introducing change without disruption.

  • Practical knowledge of Agile tools (e.g. Jira, Azure DevOps, Trello).

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
