We’re looking for an experienced Database Consultant to provide short-term, high-impact support on our products, focused on timeseries database optimisation.

This is an immediate engagement to help diagnose and improve performance, while we scope our longer-term DBA needs.

What you’ll do

• Assess and optimise our timeseries database performance.

• Advise, tune, and upskill our internal team.

• Deliver a rapid health check and optimisation plan.

• Implement and prioritise key performance fixes; document all changes.

• Provide knowledge transfer and best-practice guidance.

What we’re looking for

• Deep experience with PostgreSQL (must-have).

• Timeseries database background (e.g. native PG, TimescaleDB or similar).

• Expertise in SQL performance tuning, indexing/partitioning, query plan analysis, and capacity planning.

• Bonus: exposure to Kafka-style data ingestion pipelines.

• Contract: Short-term consulting engagement (immediate start).

• Location: Remote South Africa – must overlap NZ/South Africa/UK time zones.

• Deliverables: Performance health check, optimisation plan, implementation, and knowledge transfer.
